August Updates

August 24, 2018

So guys, today it hit me – Summer is almost over. Where did the time go? On one hand, it feels like I’ve had many memorable experiences this summer. On the other, there were so many things I wanted to do but couldn’t find the time to restaurants I wanted to try, day trips I wanted to take, people I wanted to visit – to name a few summer checklist items. Not to mention, I had planned to complete much more writing this summer.

I guess when it comes down to it, summer is just a season, a recurring season. It will resurface next year and the years following. Plus, who’s to say I can’t keep writing in the fall and winter months?

And, while I didn’t produce as large a quantity of writing as I was hoping, I am pleased with the quality of the writing I was able to compose. To me, that’s a bigger victory at the end of the day.

Creative Writing News

I have received several rejections in the last few weeks, with each stinging a tiny bit more than the last. I’ve been reading quite a bit lately about the large amount of rejections writers typically receive before they hit their big break. This has fueled me to keep moving forward by pushing myself to create the highest quality writing I possibly can!

In the Pipeline

I have seven articles coming out in the upcoming Best Of issue of Coastal Style Magazine, which hits stands next week.

I also have two articles being published for soon. I’m excited to see which pictures they will chose to complement my writing.

Lastly, I’m working on an article that will promote the mission and accomplishments of a charity that is near and dear to one of my closest friend’s hearts. I’m hoping my writing will do this incredible philanthropy justice.

Personal Updates

Stanley is officially Heartworm free!! We are elated with this news and are extremely proud of our little guy for making it through the brutal treatment period.

Also, I’m pleased to share that I’ve taken the first steps towards earning my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. I’m in the midst of my first class, and I have to admit that being a student again is proving extremely difficult for me. I’m trying to stay organized and block out certain hours each week for studying. There are many terms I’m trying to remember, so needless to say, I have quite a big stack of notecards piling up!
